Dental Bridges & Crowns in Gasport, NY
Everyone likes to look their best. Your missing or broken tooth may make you feel self-conscious about your appearance, and you may be wondering about your options for tooth replacement or reconstruction.
At Dentistry by Dr. Kaplansky, we want you to laugh freely, smile wide, and feel great about the way you look. We offer several solutions for your concerns, including crowns and bridges. Dr. Kaplansky performs restorations with a practiced hand and an eye for detail.
All About Crowns
A dental crown is essentially a cap placed over the tooth to strengthen the tooth and improve its appearance. You may need a crown to:
- Restore your tooth after a root canal
- Reshape a misshapen tooth
- Strengthen a broken or decayed tooth
- Improve the appearance of a discolored tooth
In preparation for your crown, Dr. Igor Kaplansky will carefully shape your natural tooth. Using a mold of the prepared tooth, the lab we trust with our restorations will then design a custom, natural-looking crown that will be placed over the part of the tooth that is visible above the gum line.
The type of material used to create your crown will vary depending on the specific issue we are looking to solve. Crowns can be made from metal, or we can craft your crown from porcelain that blends in with the rest of your teeth. Porcelain-fused-with metal may also be an option if additional strength is required. Dr. Kaplansky will provide a recommendation as to the right material for your situation.
Crowns are not just for royalty! With financing through Care Credit and our in-house options, we can work with you to help fit a crown into almost any budget.
All About Bridges
If you have a missing tooth, a bridge may be the solution you’re looking for. A bridge positions a false tooth in the space where a tooth has been lost, using the teeth on either side of the gap for support. Dr. Kaplansky places crowns on the two supporting teeth, with the false tooth, called a pontic, filling the space between them so it looks like you’ve never lost a tooth. We can also place crowns over dental implants, combining the lower cost of a dental bridge with the security and other added benefits of dental implants.
Bridges are important for your dental health for several reasons. They prevent the teeth on either side of the gap from shifting in your mouth. A bridge also keeps your bite properly aligned by helping to evenly distribute the pressure from your jaw. Additionally, a bridge will improve the appearance of your smile and can work to maintain the shape of your face.
Like crowns, bridges can be made from metal, alloys, porcelain, or combinations of these materials, depending on which material fits your budget and your needs.
