The process of planing involves smoothing of any uneven surfaces on exposed roots so that the gum tissue can heal and adhere to the smooth surface of the root.
Medicated/Antibiotic Mouth Rinses
Sometimes we will recommend a medicated mouth rinse after your dental scaling and planing. The rinse kills any existing bacteria and prevents new bacteria from adhering to your teeth and gums. These rinses are quite effective when combined with regular professional cleanings and good daily oral hygiene practices.

Flossing is the most effective way for you to remove plaque from between your teeth.
