Whether you are an adult who finally wants to straighten your misaligned teeth, or you are a parent looking for orthodontic treatment for your child, you should know that you have options available. In decades past, traditional metal wire and bracket braces were the standard treatment for all orthodontic issues; today, however, modern dentistry has a solution that will best meet your needs.

If you are looking for an orthodontist, we invite you to contact our Lockport practice. We can answer any questions you have and help you find the best orthodontic option for your needs.

Invisalign Clear Aligners

Many adults don’t relish the thought of spending a couple of years or more with a mouth full of metal wires and brackets. The good news is that many don’t have to. With Invisalign invisible braces, adults can have their teeth straightened discreetly.

Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners that gently nudge teeth into their proper positions. The aligners are virtually invisible, so most people won’t even notice you are wearing them. Because they are removable, you can take them out for an important event, providing you with even more flexibility.

As long as you wear the aligners as directed—usually for a minimum of 22 hours a day—treatment is quicker than with traditional braces too. Most patients achieve their desired results in six to 18 months.

Traditional Braces

Some patients have dental issues that go beyond what we can correct with Invisalign, and for them, traditional braces are always a possibility. For many children, traditional braces are the most desirable type of orthodontics because they can correct problems that go beyond just straightening teeth. Overbites, underbites, and other oral issues can be corrected with traditional braces.

Plan to take your child to the orthodontist around his or her seventh birthday. The early orthodontic treatment is started, the better.
